Music videos are one of the most watched short film formats nowadays. In this essay, Alice Dukes delves into the story of this subgenre of filmmaking, which some critics say has the potential to attach meaning to a song and increase the critical value of the medium. Alice takes a closer look to “Next to Me”, from Imagine Dragons – a piece that is the perfect hybrid of the short fiction film and the music video formats.
