Duration 10′

In “Helvegr,” Cnut, an Anglo-Saxon slave captured during the Viking age, escapes from captivity only to face death in the guise of a mythological Norse troll. Armed with a knife found with a deceased fellow slave, Cnut vows vengeance against the Norsemen. His journey leads him to a campsite where a nostalgic discovery turns violent, resulting in Cnut killing a man in self-defence, an act that aligns him with the troll’s dark essence. Mortally wounded in the altercation, Cnut collapses by a river, haunted by visions of the ocean and the troll. He awakens in a forest, compelled to follow the troll deeper into the wilderness, a path that seems to lead him towards an inevitable, dark fate.
