This exclusive community-curated event includes an authentic North African meal cooked by refugees working with Kitchen of Hope.

‘The Secret of the Grain’ (2007) is a cinematic gem that resonates with Portsmouth’s rich cultural tapestry. The film, set in southern France, tells the story of a Franco-Arabic shipyard worker, who along with his partner’s daughter, pursues his dream of opening a restaurant. This 2007 masterpiece weaves a tale of generational dreams and culinary passion, mirroring our own community’s diverse heritage and the universal quest for belonging.

To respect those participating in Ramadan, this will be an alcohol-free event.

This is a fundraising event for Portsmouth City of Sanctuary and a celebration of community, culture and the incredible work of the charity, Kitchen of Hope. A collection will be taken during the event.

There will be a choice from a range of dishes of typical North African food available and we will be catering for vegetarian, vegan and other dietary preferences. Please inform us of any allergies or dietary preferences on arrival.

Whilst the film screening is free, a £10 donation to Kitchen of Hope is required upon booking to secure your seat for the dining experience.
